Actually Bordeaux is a lovely city and Bordellos were outlawed in France last year. Customers of prostitutes are prosecuted not the pros themselves....

My nearest team is Bordeaux. In 2009/10 season I went to a match when we were rumoured to be interested in buying Marouane Chamakh. I couldn't get into French football!
Bordeaux were top of the league the previous season. They were playing Nice and won 4-0. David Bellion was a sub Chamakh at striker with Cavenaghi up front.
Remember Bellion? A Man Utd failure we took on loan for a few games under Pardew I think? Cavenaghi we were rumoured to be interested in as well but they were all shit and would struggle in the championship except Alou Diarra who was fantastic, we eventually did sign and he had by then turned to shit....
It was a very poor standard after years of being WH and we have hardly been a top English club have we? Most clubs in France would struggle in the Championship. In short, the French league is absolutely dire and every French player with any ambition wants to get to England...
If a player wants to go to play in France it isn't for the money because the taxes in France for millionaires are horrendous where you pay tax on your possessions as well as your income. If Payet wants out it is for personal reasons although Marseille might be big spenders they are nowhere near as wealthy as WH
